For more safety on the roads: New footpath and cycle path in Langenberg

Good news for cyclists and pedestrians in the district of Gütersloh: The network of cycle paths in Langenberg has been optimised with the construction of a new footpath and cycle path along the K 55 (Stromberger Straße) from the district border of Warendorf in the town area of Oelde to the entrance to Langenberg. In future, the new footpath and cycle path will offer more safety on the roads and a better connection to the 100 castles route and the culture parcour. Oevermann Verkehrswegebau, a PORR company, was responsible for the new construction. The construction work on the K 55 was completed on schedule within just under a year.

The new construction of the footpath and cycle path was divided into three construction phases. Cars and cyclists or pedestrians were spatially separated from each other. Over a total length of approx. 5 km, 45 field access roads were constructed in asphalt and 900 m of concrete channel were laid. In May 2023, to coincide with the start of summer, the cycle path was opened to traffic.

Efficient teamwork

In this project, too, work was done hand in hand and economically. The construction project required 5,000 m³ of fill soil, which was obtained from another construction site of the Osnabrück branch. In addition, the in-house construction materials laboratory accompanied the project with regard to quality assurance in earthworks.
