As a business, we build for generations and shape living environments – with people and for people. Sustainable action is an important element of our social responsibility and also the foundation of our success. It gives us a competitive advantage and includes all economically, environmentally and socially relevant behaviour.

Due to the high consumption of energy and resources in the construction industry, the impact of these activities on society and the environment is intensive and wide-ranging. This challenge requires global and future-oriented thinking. PORR is embracing this responsibility. The foundation for this approach is our “Green and Lean” holistic sustainability strategy, which rests on the three pillars Environment, Social and Governance (ESG). Our main fields of action are derived from the materiality analysis and reflect these three dimensions of sustainability.

PORR is pursuing clear and ambitious sustainability goals and improving transparency step by step. This commitment has been honoured by the international sustainability agency ISS ESG which repeatedly awarded PORR C+ Prime status. ISS looks at more than 100 industry-specific criteria from the environmental (E), social (S) and governance (G) pillars before granting an ESG rating.

Already during project development and investment decisions, it is important to deal responsibly with the questions and challenges of future capability and future security. A property must offer its users maximum comfort, technical equipment and safety in the long term, and at the same time be economical.

Building certification systems are an important component of sustainable construction. They provide recognised procedures and methods that can be used to minimise the use of resources or emissions, in harmony with the building's comfort. The quality of a building is thus made visible as well as comparable. We accompany our clients from the formulation of target values for building properties in accordance with the desired seal of quality to marketing as well as in the documentation accompanying planning and construction.

Our subsidiary, pde Integrale Planung GmbH, plans according to recognised building guidelines and proactively participates in the further development of leading building certification systems. They were selected by the German Green Building Association e.V. (GGBA) as one of five companies to transfer the US certification system LEED to German-speaking countries. In addition, they adapted the world's leading system BREEAM New Construction for Germany, Austria and Switzerland. In order to be able to consider sustainable construction holistically for the construction site, PORR Spezialtiefbau has developed a targeted sustainability certification for the services of foundation engineering in a two-year work process together with the Federal Department (BFA) of Foundation Engineering of BAUINDUSTRIE and the DGNB. This includes, among other things, the production of foundations, deep foundations, excavation pits, anchorages for buildings, engineering and infrastructure structures or energy plants. PORR Spezialtiefbau supports our clients both in consulting and planning as well as in the execution of environmentally friendly procedures up to the final certification. This means that PORR also offers you all services from a single source when it comes to sustainability.
