The skate park covers a generous area of 65 m x 16 m and was completed on the site of a former football pitch. Construction work started at the beginning of October 2023 and included 1,400 m² of turf removal, 400 m³ of terrain levelling, 570 t of frost protection layer and 450 t of gravel base course as well as 1,040 m² of asphalt paving. Particular attention was paid to the quality and evenness of the asphalt surface.
The highlights of the facility
The centrepiece of the skate park is undoubtedly the eight skate elements, which were manufactured in accordance with DIN EN 14974 "Skate parks - Safety requirements and test methods". The standard includes requirements for materials, construction and safety areas. The construction of the skate park was a special job for the transport route engineering team. It requires expertise and precision to ensure the safety and enjoyment of the skaters.
Roller sports fans will recognise them: These classic grind elements are used in the Seelow skate park:
- Manual pad (flat block for side grinds or tricks on the surface)
- Radius curb (elongated block for slides or grind tricks)
- Flatrail (metal bar that stands horizontally above the ground for grind and slide tricks)
- Quarter transition with platform
- Rooftop with rail (double-sided slope with metal bar on one side)
- Bank hip (straight upward slope, for flat tricks and kickflips)
- Bench with platform
- China Bank
There's no doubt about it: this skate park will delight every skateboard enthusiast. The safety of skaters has top priority so that they can practise their tricks and jumps safely from now on. Following a comprehensive safety inspection by an accredited testing centre, the skate park was officially opened in April and can be used in time for the new season.
