The official ground-breaking ceremony for the new Ramada Encore by Wyndham Berlin Airport was held in Berlin Schönefeld on 10 April 2024. The project promises to be an ideal addition to the hotel infrastructure in the region. It is being realised on behalf of SWH Airporthotel Schönfeld GmbH by PORR as general contractor from a single source.

The future hotel at the capital's BER Berlin Brandenburg Airport will extend over six storeys on a site area of 5,183 m2. With a gross floor area of around 17,000 m2, the building will offer generous space for 271 hotel rooms as well as numerous amenities. In addition to a fitness room, a bar and a breakfast room, the hotel will also have conference rooms. Guests will also have access to 193 underground car parking spaces. A special feature is the integration of photovoltaic thermal modules on the roof, which contribute to both electricity and heat generation.

During the ceremony, Jan Ossenkop, Managing Director of SWH Airporthotel Schönfeld GmbH, Sascha Konter, Managing Director of SIGNO Hospitality GmbH, Christian Hentschel, Mayor of the municipality of Schönefeld, and Andreas Kimling, Regional Head of Building Construction East at PORR GmbH & Co. Specialised civil engineering work started
Preparations for the building construction are already in full swing. The excavation pit and the installation of the sheet piling are currently being carried out by PORR Spezialtiefbau. As the project is supported by a KfW subsidy, adherence to deadlines and construction quality have top priority. The consistent application of lean management methods throughout the planning and construction process ensures cost transparency, adherence to deadlines and the desired high quality.
