Due to the use of the adjacent buildings, the demolition work will be carried out in a confined space and thus under very demanding conditions - as was already the case in Wilmersdorf - posing a special challenge.
On average, about 30 - 40 employees will be involved in the demolition work over the next three years. A special revolving tower crane (daily loads >30to) and various mobile cranes will be used for the demolition work as planned. Parallel to the deployment of personnel, several hydraulic excavators (5-100to) and a cable excavator will be used for mechanical demolition. The processing of the demolition materials obtained on site will take place on site. This measure will reduce the necessary truck journeys to an absolute minimum. In addition to the considerable CO2 savings, the burden on public traffic routes will also be massively reduced.
The old Lichterfelde combined heat and power plant was first put into operation in 1972 and served as a supply centre in the south of Berlin. In the meantime, the power plant units have been completely decommissioned and the plant has been replaced by a more resource-efficient combined-cycle gas turbine power plant.
We are pleased to be able to continue to accompany Vattenfall in Berlin on the path to climate neutrality.
