An update: excavation of what will be one of Frankfurt's deepest excavation pits

Construction work in the heart of Frankfurt am Main is progressing in leaps and bounds: As part of the extension of the U5 light rail line into the Europaviertel district, ARGE U5, consisting of the PORR Civil Engineering, Tunnel Construction and Stump-Franki Spezialtiefbau teams, is building the underground station of the light rail line at Frankfurt's Güterplatz. One of the deepest construction pits in Frankfurt is currently being built here.

The excavation pit is 170 m long and will be about 24 m deep. Currently, the second of a total of three stiffener layers is being built. In the next step, the construction of the third strip layer, the already constructed tunnel tubes will become visible. The excavation work must be planned and carried out with precision. Close cooperation between the civil engineering and foundation engineering departments is crucial for success. An extensive monitoring system has been set up to assist the team with supervision.

The video shows the exciting progress.
