Construction time shortened: New cycle path on the K 225

The new construction of the cycle path between Reckum and Wildeshausen along the K 225 has been completed. The Osnabrück/Gütersloh branch of Verkehrswegebau exceeded the client's request for "adherence to deadlines" from the district of Oldenburg: The work was completed in significantly less time than planned.

The new cycle path was built over a total distance of 4 kilometres.

Work on the construction of a new cycle path along the district road 225 between Reckum and Wildeshausen has been largely completed. The district of Oldenburg awarded the contract for this important infrastructure project to the Osnabrück/Gütersloh traffic route construction branch, which completed the project ahead of the agreed schedule. The road has already been opened to motorised traffic. The cycle path will only be open to motorised traffic once the bridge structure, which is being built by a third-party contractor, has been completed.

More road safety for cyclists and motorists
Reckumer Straße runs for around 1.6 kilometres through a densely wooded area and a further 2.4 kilometres through a sparsely populated section. The construction of the new cycle path will not only significantly improve the safety of cyclists, but also the safety of motorised traffic. This brings the district of Oldenburg a big step closer to its goal of creating a continuous cycle path network.

Efficient realisation of the construction work
The construction of the new cycle path covered a total distance of 4 kilometres and included clearing work, earthworks, paving work and the construction of the superstructure. The end of construction originally planned for April 2024 was achieved much earlier. This fast and high-quality realisation of the project is another example of the expertise and efficiency of the traffic route construction team.

Support from within the company
As with many other projects, internal expertise was used for the cost-effective realisation of the project. The in-house central laboratory in Münster and the surveying department played an important role in ensuring the high quality standards of the project.

The road was opened to traffic in mid-November and marks a milestone in regional infrastructure development. The cycle path will be fully opened once the missing bridge has been completed.
