A lot has happened since the southern Salzbachtal bridge was built on the A66 in Wiesbaden:

  • The reinforced concrete work for the two Aartalbahn superstructures was completed on time.
  • Since the end of May, the steel structure of the southern superstructure has been lying on the bridge piers and on the abutments. The reinforced concrete work on this steel structure has begun.
  • The southern cycle cellar and the cycle cellar in the area of the completed superstructure of the Aartal railway are currently being filled with soil.
  • The first of a total of 11 sections of the superstructure slab was concreted on schedule.

The team is working flat out and in close cooperation with the western branch of motorways GmbH as well as the ARGE partner Plauen Stahl Technologie to reach the next milestone for mid-August 2023: The completion of the reinforced concrete work on the steel structure of the southern superstructure. The upcoming project phase will be accompanied by special challenges: The reinforced concrete work will be carried out at great heights. For this reason, elaborate safety measures for the executing personnel will be used, such as personal fall protection systems. Separate instructions for height rescue also took place. Besides meeting deadlines, work safety is always the top priority of the project for the federal motorways company. At the end of December, traffic should be back on the southern Salzbachtal bridge.
