PORR builds new quarter with maritime lifestyle near Leipzig
The people of Leipzig call the 400-hectare Cospuden bathing lake on the southern outskirts of Markkleeberg "Costa Cospuda" or "bathtub". Quartier Cospuden GmbH is creating new living space for families and space for commercial units at this popular excursion and local recreation destination in the city of Leipzig. The project was initiated, planned, developed and implemented by PROPOS Projektentwicklung GmbH. PORR Hochbau Region Ost, Schmölln site, is realising the new urban quarter on a turnkey basis.
The contract includes the construction of a total of nine buildings on an area of 9,800 m2 . Six of the apartment buildings will be constructed as multi-storey condominiums with underground parking. In addition, Hochbau is constructing two end-of-row houses and a mid-row house for use as residential and commercial units. The 6,230 m2 outdoor area is primarily intended to offer families space to live and children space to grow up. A particular challenge is posed by the confined space and access roads, which are used by many cyclists, pedestrians, buses and cars, especially in summer. With a well thought-out logistics concept, the ongoing excursion traffic as well as the parallel construction site supply is safely guaranteed.
Quality, cost and deadline reliability as the primary customer requirement
In addition to the high quality requirements, schedule and cost security are particularly important to the client. PORR convinced with economical alternative proposals. Even before the start of construction, a good relationship of trust was established between PORR and the client during the planning discussions.
New living space at the local recreation area
Until 1992, lignite was mined on the site of today's Lake Cospuden. As a correspondence project of EXPO2000, the area was finally flooded. Today, the local recreation area with bathing beaches, marina, holiday flats, gastronomy and maritime ambience with good transport connections attracts about 600,000 visitors annually. In addition to sailing and surfing, visitors can also use the 10.4 km long asphalted circular path for walks and bicycle tours around the lake. Climbing a lookout tower along the way offers a magnificent view over Leipzig's lake landscape.
