As part of the Westfield Hamburg-Überseequartier, PORR is constructing the shell for two hotels with a gross floor area of 16,913m² and 8,168m². The project brings together PORR's expertise and strengths: Building construction and structural engineering are realising the shell construction work hand in hand. The hotel in the northern section has already been handed over to the client for interior construction. In the southern part of the building, where civil engineering expertise is particularly in demand due to the steel elements and sophisticated composite structures, the final spurt is on for the shell construction work.
Civil engineering in building construction
The complex includes an integrated bridges in the southern part of the building, in which a swimming pool will be embedded. A challenging speciality that required the art of civil engineering in building construction. Logistically, the construction project posed major challenges for the team as well as all other parties involved in the construction: Construction site supplies within HafenCity are delivered via narrow access roads, over 200 companies involved in the overall project as well as crane relocations within the complex require close coordination and accurate planning at all times.
A new central building block in HafenCity
Cosmopolitan, open and urban - the Westfield Hamburg-Überseequartier is no place like any other. Designed as an integrated district and central component of Hamburg's HafenCity, it combines space for living and working with attractive cultural and leisure facilities as well as innovative shopping and entertainment concepts. Another highlight will be the innovative cruise terminal. With the mixed-use project in the southern Überseequartier, Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield is creating the lively centre of modern Hamburg.
