Filstal Bridge completed: celebrating a successful bridge between Ulm and Stuttgart

The EÜ Filstal consortium of Max Bögl and PORR Deutschland has now completed the final section of the new rail line – the bridge over the Filstal valley. This milestone and the impressive scale of the completed construction as a whole were celebrated on 14 July. Deutsche Bahn railways, represented by Ronald Pofalla, Member of the Management Board for Infrastructure, invited prominent guests and speakers such as Herald Ruijters, Director for Mobility and Transport of the European Commission, Steffen Bilger, Parliamentary State Secretary, Head of Department Berthold Friess, and Johann Bögl, representing the consortium, to attend the festivities. The outstanding work of all project participants was recognised before the invited guests, journalists and construction site team at the ceremony.

The Filstal Bridge, a masterpiece of filigreed architecture, as Ronald Pofalla termed it in his celebratory address, and the entire Stuttgart-Ulm railway project has immense significance for the infrastructure network across Germany and Europe. The Filstal Bridge will be used by rail traffic from the end of 2022, when the new high-speed line is expected to come into operation.
