PORR right on schedule with new VBG building in HAMBURG-BARMBEK

Hamburg, 4 February 2016 – Construction work on the new VBG headquarters in Hamburg-Barmbek is progressing on schedule. PORR Deutschland GmbH was awarded the tender for execution planning and construction of the office building in autumn 2014. The laying of the foundation stone in June 2015 marked an important milestone in the building’s construction. The shell has now been completed up to the fifth storey and the works are set for completion by the end of November 2016.
 
“You can now see the building growing from one day to the next. If construction continues to progress so smoothly, we will be able to celebrate the topping-out ceremony in summer”, said Thorsten Döcke, a member of the VBG Managing Board. 
“Our large-scale project in the important Hamburg market is progressing well – not least because of the successful project management of the client and the local site management team. It shows that we are ideally equipped in building construction in Germany for projects of this type. The good cooperation between PORR Deutschland and PDE, our planning department PORR Design & Engineering, is also playing a key role in the success of the project”, said Udo Sauter, Managing Director of PORR Deutschland GmbH. 
 
Details on the new VBG headquarters  
PORR Deutschland GmbH is building the new headquarters in Hamburg-Barmbek for the statutory accident insurer VBG, one of the largest associations of its kind in Germany. The VBG headquarters have been in Hamburg ever since 1948 and are currently based in the Alsterdorf district. As the de-veloper and provider of statutory accident insurance, disabled access is a top priority for VBG. What’s more, the new VBG headquarters will be realised as a sustainable building and certified in line with the criteria of the German Sustainable Building Council – the goal is to secure a DGNB Gold certificate.
