With an average speed of ten metres per hour, the northern Salzbachtal bridge pushed itself about 50 metres across the Salzbachtal valley on 17 October. It took six hours to advance the second cycle. An important milestone for the entire project team, which was achieved routinely and safely thanks to the experience and close and trusting cooperation of the ARGE. As with the south bridge, the north bridge was also pushed in with the help of hydraulic presses and steel cables: The steel section reached the first pier via hydraulic cushions. The next shifting is planned for January 2024.
South bridge shortly before opening to traffic
In December 2023, traffic should once again be rolling over the southern Salzbachtal bridge. Work is in full swing: sealing work on the southern superstructure is currently underway, the construction of the caps has been completed on the superstructure, as has the asphalt work on the eastern and western sections to the southern Salzbachtal Bridge. The team is working in close cooperation towards the opening to traffic.
