PORR Verkehrswegebau GmbH, based in Münster, is significantly expanding its presence in south-west Germany: It is taking over the long-established Baden-Württemberg company A. Waggershauser Strassenbau GmbH & Co. KG, based in Kirchheim/Teck.

"A. Waggershauser Strassenbau, with its almost 100 years of experience in road construction and its highly competent teams, is an ideal addition to PORR as a technology pioneer. This opens up enormous opportunities for us in south-west Germany," said Karl-Heinz Strauss, CEO of PORR. "We are also particularly pleased to have gained a strong partner for circular construction in line with our Green and Lean strategy."

The acquisition will take effect retroactively from 1 January 2024 - subject to antitrust approval - and offers advantages for both sides. The family-run traditional company A. Waggershauser with around 140 employees and an annual output of around EUR 25 million is initiating a future-proof succession plan with the takeover. PORR, for its part, is a technology leader with extensive expertise in recyclable construction: With this acquisition, it is expanding its market position as a sustainable infrastructure provider in the south-west region in a targeted manner.

As part of the transaction, all employees, the modern machinery and vehicle fleet, the asphalt mixing plant and the stake in the building materials recycling plant in Lindorf will be taken over and the business premises and areas in Kirchheim/Teck and Lindorf will continue to be used. The parties have agreed not to disclose the purchase price.

Transport route engineering from a single source

Founded in 1927 by Anton Waggershauser, the long-established company stands for a comprehensive, customised range of services "from a single source" in the field of traffic route construction. In addition to specialising in earthworks, civil engineering, sewer and road construction, the company offers services in the fields of recycling, demolition work, civil engineering, landfill construction and environmental technology.

"With this takeover, PORR is focussing on continuity and sustainable growth", said Claude Jeutter, COO of PORR and responsible for the German market. The plan is to continue business operations in the proven manner within PORR Verkehrswegebau and to expand them in a targeted manner. The Waggershauser entrepreneurs will continue to support the company's business.

Mathias and Stefan Waggershauser emphasise: "In PORR we have found a strategic partner who will continue the success story of our company in the future and consistently drive it forward. We are looking forward to new perspectives for the company and our employees - in line with our philosophy - with a good portion of courage and pioneering spirit, a permanent willingness to change and solid work".
