Our strategy for sustainable construction.

Due to the high consumption of energy and resources in the construction industry, the impact of business activities on society and the environment is both high and diverse. They require us to think globally and with an eye to the future. PORR fulfils this responsibility. The basis for this is our holistic sustainability strategy "Green and Lean", which is based on three pillars environment, social and governance is based. The most important areas of action are derived from the materiality analysis and reflect the three dimensions of sustainability.

PORR pursues ambitious and clear goals in terms of sustainability and is gradually increasing transparency. This commitment has been honoured by the international sustainability agency ISS ESG: PORR was repeatedly honoured with a C+ Prime status. As part of the ESG rating, ISS selects more than 100 industry-specific criteria along the environmental (E), social (S) and governance (G) pillars.

Eight key areas of action with clearly defined goals, measures and key performance indicators up to 2030 form the strategic framework for driving forward the sustainable transformation of PORR in a measurable and targeted manner. This framework not only takes into account the three pillars of sustainability, but also company-specific opportunities, risks and impacts of the CSRD, as well as the expectations of key stakeholders.

PORR is taking responsibility and actively shaping the ecological transformation of the construction industry - through climate-conscious construction, responsible use of resources and clear environmental goals along the entire value chain. At its centre is a clear commitment to a low-emission, circular and biodiversity-friendly understanding of construction.

PORR's seven central environmental goals include: decarbonising the construction industry, acting sustainable construction sites, developing the value chain into a value cycle, minimum standards in responsible procurement, protecting biodiversity and natural habitats, improving water use and raising awareness for sustainability in all areas of the company.

PORR has been awarded the gold medal by the internationally appreciated sustainability rating agency EcoVadis. This places the construction company among the top 5% of companies in terms of sustainability and among the top 3% in the construction industry.

Building certification systems are an important part of sustainable construction. They provide appreciation procedures and methods that can be used to minimise the use of resources or emissions in harmony with building comfort. The quality of a building is thus made visible as well as comparable. We support our clients from the formulation of target values for building properties in accordance with the desired quality seal through to marketing, as well as with documentation during planning and construction.

Our affiliate, pde Integrale Planung GmbH, plans in accordance with recognised building guidelines and proactively participates in the further development of leading building certification systems. They were selected by the German Green Building Association e.V. (GGBA) as one of five companies to transfer the US LEED certification system to German-speaking countries. They also adapted the world's leading system BREEAM New Construction for Germany, Austria and Switzerland. In order to be able to consider sustainable construction holistically for the construction site, PORR Spezialtiefbau has developed a targeted sustainability certification for the services of special civil engineering in a two-year work process together with the Federal Specialist Department (BFA) Special Civil Engineering of BAUINDUSTRIE and the DGNB. These include the construction of foundations, deep foundations, construction pits, anchoring for buildings, engineering and infrastructure structures or energy plants. PORR special civil engineering supports our clients in consulting and planning as well as in the execution of environmentally friendly processes, right through to final certification. This means that PORR also offers you all services from a single source when it comes to sustainability.
