PORR as general contractor for residential and commercial building in the middle of Munich
On behalf of Quartierplatz Gate Munich GmbH, PORR Building Construction South Region acted as general contractor for the construction of a new residential and commercial building with a restaurant, large garage and ancillary rooms. The two buildings are located in the Domagpark urban quarter and occupy a special position in the new urban quarter due to their central location and use.
The construction of tram line 23 in 2007 marked the start of the new Domagpark urban quarter in the north of the Schwabing district. On the former Funkkaserne site there are now 1,600 flats for around 4,000 people. The central square and heart of the quarter is Bauhausplatz, which was named in reference to the famous Bauhaus school of architecture. The townhouse, realised by PORR in 2020, is an important part of Bauhausplatz with its shops and gastronomy areas.
Deadline reliability as a top priority for the client
For the client, schedule reliability was particularly important in the realisation of the project, as the property had already been sold to an investor at the start of construction.
The experienced building construction team fulfilled this customer requirement with smooth coordination of the various trades. The building construction team received intensive support from the affiliate pde Integrale Planung, which assisted the general planner with both building construction and technical building services. With all services from a single source, the team completed the project economically and safely.
Living in the new Domagpark district
The ensemble, consisting of two free-standing building sections, was built on an area of 7,376 m². The northern part consists of a five-storey building with shops on the ground floor and offices above. The southern part comprises a seven-storey building with shops and restaurants on the ground floor, while the ground floor is used as office space. The upper floors offer 25 well-lit flats of various sizes on an area of about 2,500 m². In addition, there is a two-storey large garage with a mechanical ventilation system and an automatic sprinkler system. The façade of the building is made of pre-hung concrete blocks.
