The complete range of specialist civil engineering services was required
In three construction phases, rectangular pavilions with light-filled inner courtyards are being built for Landshut Hospital. They offer space for almost 600 single and double rooms with a feel-good atmosphere and state-of-the-art sanitary standards. All construction work must take place during ongoing operations and in some cases in confined spaces, taking into account the needs of patients and staff. PORR Spezialtiefbau therefore called on its entire range of expertise for the first construction phase - from transparent project communication to the on-time, flawless execution of a wide range of special civil engineering works, including dewatering.
Re-anchoring the supply tunnel
In a first step, the service building on the construction site was demolished and a modern high-tech kitchen was built in the former laundry. The existing supply tunnel, in which the supply lines for gas, water and oxygen are also laid, will continue to be used for logistics. It runs through almost the entire construction site and was therefore anchored back with 45 micro piles of the Ischebeck TITAN system, diameter 150 mm. Due to the presence of groundwater and the limited working height, even this first task required a great deal of dexterity. In the areas where drilling was not permitted, ballasting was used. If this was also not possible, the tunnel was anchored back into the existing diaphragm wall using GEWI micro piles.
Foundations with large bored piles and micro piles
The team also applied its technological diversity to the foundation work. 148 large bored piles with diameters of 880 and 1200 mm and a pile length of up to 26 meters bear the foundation loads. Due to a lack of space, 66 micro piles with a diameter of 200 mm and lengths of up to almost 20 meters were used for the foundations in one section. For the deep sections, bored pile walls with a total length of 106 meters and an area of 1200 m² were constructed in two parts separated by the supply tunnel. A more than 600 m2 large and 1.5 meter thick DSV base seals the deep sections horizontally. Finally, the supply tunnel was underpinned with a 380 m3 DSV body.
"Construction from a single source" guarantees quality and adherence to deadlines
The construction pit was sealed with a 145 meter long, up to 10 meter deep soil mixing wall. PORR produced a total of almost 1,300 meters of strand anchors for anchoring the bored pile walls, soil mixing wall and DSV underpinning. Last but not least, 36 micro piles with a diameter of 200 mm and a length of up to 15 m were supplied for three crane foundations.
