Hotel and Office Campus: functional and elegant.

From the end of 2012 to the start of 2014 PORR built the highly acclaimed Hotel & Office Campus, in short HOC, in Berlin. The site consists of separate wings and blocks with six to seven storeys that are linked by a joint basement. The entire plot has cellars underneath and boasts attractive outdoor areas for HOC’s users and visitors to relax in the open air.

The three HOC buildings are home to a three-star hotel by the operator Holiday Inn, with 217 rooms, and 22,000m2 modern office space. The 700m2 on the ground floors are used for gastronomy and loading facilities. What’s more, the basement has space for the building services technology along with 155 parking spaces.

The facade of the HOC was designed with natural stone and deep soffits. In combination with the bronze-coloured windows, they give the impression of classic elegance and a sense of calm. At the same time, the plans of the campus were based on the historic commercial architecture commonly seen along the River Spree.

Strict requirements for sustainable building had to be upheld during the planning and construction of the HOC, which had a very positive impact on the energy efficiency of the buildings. This success was recognised with the Silver DGNB certification awarded by the German Sustainable Building Council and the LEED certification in Gold. The sustainable construction methods not only benefit the environment, but also the tenants and owners of the HOC Berlin.
