PORR and AMM are building the first NH-certified day care centre in Bremen

In most cities, day care facilities are just as scarce as housing. This is why AMM Holding GmbH, investor and project developer of the new residential district on Osterholzer Heerstrasse, Bremen, planned to include childcare facilities in the new development. PORR Building Construction North Region has been appointed general contractor for the construction of the new three-storey building with a gross floor area of around 2,051m2. The construction work is expected to run from April 2023 to June 2024. One special highlight: the facility is set to become Bremen’s first sustainable day care centre.

District encourages young families to stay in Bremen

The district of Osterholz is located in the east of the Bremen metropolitan area and borders on the district of Verden in Lower Saxony. The housing stock is highly diverse, ranging from old farms and terraced housing estates to the high-rise buildings in “Little Manhattan”. A total of 30 terraced houses and two apartment buildings, including a day care centre, are now being built on a plot of land of around 38,000m2 that has lain unused for many years

– especially welcome news for young families in Bremen.

Sustainability is a top priority

The day care centre meets the energy requirements for an Efficiency House 40 NH. A photovoltaic system will be installed on at least 50% of the rooftop areas. We are also planning to obtain DGNB Gold certification. “We are delighted to have been awarded this order on two counts. By acquiring AMM Holding as a new customer, we have managed to attract a company that places sustainability at the top of its agenda. The project thus harmonises perfectly with PORR’s green and lean sustainability strategy,” explains PORR Regional Manager North Björn Motzkus. Mutual trust was already a defining factor in the bidding and cost estimation phase. “As general contractor, our primary duty is to deliver an all-inclusive package. Strict adherence to budgets, deadlines and quality standards means that the customer has complete planning certainty.”
