From two sides to the new transport line

Between the two villages of Steckenborn and Schmidt, PORR Verkehrswegebau is building a new transport pipeline for drinking water in a consortium with the company Kemmerling. On behalf of the Perlenbach waterworks, the drinking water pipeline is being built over a length of 7 kilometers from both sides. The additional cycle path renewal and cable laying complete the project. The construction work is scheduled for completion in May 2025.

Further projects are being implemented as part of this construction project. For example, PORR Verkehrswegebau is also carrying out the renewal of a cycle path for Straßen NRW over a distance of around 4 kilometers and the laying of three cable strands for Regionetz over a distance of around 5 kilometers.

Challenge: traffic routing must be adapted flexibly

The construction work is being carried out under special conditions. One challenge is the so-called moving construction site with traffic lights, as the traffic routing must be flexibly adapted to the construction progress. This applies in particular to the asphalt paving on the cycle path. The paver moves along the cycle path while the feeder, which continuously feeds the asphalt, drives along the parallel country road. This work is being carried out in three sections, with the traffic lights being adjusted to the construction work on an hourly basis in each section in order to ensure the flow of traffic.

Tree and root protection in view

Another requirement of the customer for the construction site team is to protect the environment. This involves ensuring tree protection and the preservation of roots along the route, which requires additional planning and precautionary measures. It is important to adhere to the specified schedule and optimize the construction processes to ensure efficiency and quality.
