Björn Kass expressed his appreciation for the confidence placed in him: “The HBD committee benefits greatly from the experience of company representatives and state associations. This helps us to create a broad spectrum of best practice solutions that can be usefully adopted by all companies. Over the next four years as chair, my focus will be on fostering cooperation and dialogue between the association and individual companies. After all, we can only achieve good solutions for all companies in the construction industry if we work together.”
The wide and diverse range of occupational health and safety topics is a distinctive feature of the construction industry. This is because the working environment on construction sites changes on an almost daily basis as construction progresses. On top of that, there is a high turnover of people working on the construction sites due to the many different trades and companies involved. This represents a constant challenge for all those involved in the project, especially in terms of occupational safety, to ensure lasting prevention of workplace accidents.
“Our employees are our most important resource. It takes the entire team working together to create safe and healthy working conditions on our construction sites. Everyone must embrace a living culture of occupational health and safety as a key corporate objective. The introduction of the five PORR principles, especially working shoulder-to-shoulder and passion, is of utmost value for occupational health and safety”, Björn Kass concludes.
