Inspiring the next generation of workers: children's eyes filled with wonder during a day-care centre visit to a foundation engineering construction site.

How much does an excavator shovel full of earth actually weigh? These and other questions were asked and answered during the visit of the Newmanhaus day care centre to the construction site of the Bonn Student Union. 19 girls and boys had the unique opportunity to observe the construction work from the front row. Together with their teachers, they watched the steady drilling of the BG 28 H from a safe distance - with their heads bent back and their gaze directed far upwards.

Since September 2022, the Stump-Franki foundation engineering team has been working in consortium with the earthworks company Gerhard Kliemt GmbH on the excavation pit for the new building of the Bonn student union. A 450 m long excavation pit with soldier pile and bored pile walls as well as a DSV underpinning reaching down to a depth of 7.25 m is being constructed on an area of around 4,600 m2. By 2025, a student house with a refectory, study, work and recreation areas, a hall of residence with 106 places and an administration building will be built here.

The work is progressing smoothly and in close cooperation with everyone involved, which fascinated our little visitors from the day care centre in particular. It was great to see you marvelling!
