A total of 437 prefabricated architectural concrete elements up to 7.8 metres wide, manufactured by Geithner Betonmanufaktur in Joachimsthal, Brandenburg, adorn the façade. Each standard element weighs 3.85 tonnes, with the heaviest weighing as much as 5.1 tonnes. The assembly took around 7.5 months, during which a wide variety of assembly aids such as mast climbing platforms, telescopic work platforms and scissor lifts were used.
In order to meet the deadlines precisely, the team relied on LEAN cycle planning for the execution. This involves dividing the construction project into work units, defining the length of the individual production steps and specifying the number of personnel and the time required to complete them. The Last Planner system is also used.
An example of responsible and sustainable construction
The holistic ESG concept is just as exemplary as the original design by architects Heide & Von Beckerath. PORR subsidiary pde Integrale Planung is supporting the LEED Gold certification. In addition, certification in accordance with the WELL Building Standard Gold and WiredScore Gold is being sought. The former assesses the positive impact that the building has on the comfort, health and well-being of its users. WiredScore guarantees the building a secure, fast and interference-free data connection.
