Tilmann Römmler, Technical Branch Manager of QUARTERBACK Hamburg GmbH, and Björn Motzkus, Regional Manager of PORR Hochbau Nord, expressed their excitement about the joint project in short speeches and acknowledged the importance of the new quarter for the attractiveness of the city of Norderstedt. The traditional ceremony then took place. Frank Selle, project manager at QUARTERBACK Immobilien AG, and Oliver Schantz, project manager at PORR, sealed a time capsule with a copy of the current daily newspaper, a project brochure and a 1-cent coin. The capsule will later be embedded in a precast concrete element and placed visibly on an interior wall.
Sustainable and affordable living in Hamburg's suburbs
The new building complex will have 198 residential units with a living space of around 12,000 square meters, 60 of which are socially subsidized and 54 of which are barrier-free. The first floor is reserved for retail, while an underground garage offers 130 parking spaces. With Quartier Garstedt, QUARTERBACK aims to create an attractive, ecological and modern living space for everyone and thus make an important contribution to Norderstedt's urban development. The building is being constructed as a KfW Efficiency House 55 and is aiming for DGNB certification.
“This project is something special for PORR for several reasons. Firstly, we are naturally delighted that QUARTERBACK has once again placed its trust in us and entrusted us with the role of general contractor. Secondly, Quartier Garstedt fits in perfectly with PORR's sustainability strategy. Together with QUARTERBACK, we can create living space in Norderstedt that is both sustainable and affordable,” says Björn Motzkus, PORR Regional Manager North.
