Construction began in October 2024 on Friedrich-Ebert-Straße. The expansion to around 2,440 square meters will cover the increased space requirements of the court and the outpatient social services. At the same time, the project will consolidate previously scattered departments at a central location. Only minor conversion work is required in the existing building itself in the transition area. The architectural design of the new building, for which the ARGE Heitmann Pussert Kosch architects are responsible, is strongly influenced by the existing building. Particular attention is paid to the barrier-free design.
The building construction team from Gütersloh is responsible for the construction work. Challenges such as the ongoing operation of the district court and the connection of the new building to the existing building require special measures – in particular with regard to sound insulation and maintaining access to the old building. Thanks to the use of LEAN management techniques, the project should be completed efficiently and within the given time frame: the load-planner system is used to integrate an adapted phase as well as weekly planning. The close exchange between the local site managers and the subcontractors that this entails leads to short distances and short reaction times during the construction process. This minimizes construction delays.
In addition, the team relies on digital solutions for quality assurance: the PlanRadar software for defects management ensures that acceptance and defect processing is carried out digitally and efficiently. In combination with digital plan management, this ensures a resource-saving and structured construction process.
