Final spurt in the PFLEGEN & WOHNEN WILHELMSBURG project in Hamburg

The PFLEGEN & WOHNEN WILHELMSBURG care facility is currently under construction in Hamburg-Wilhelmsburg. As part of the Future Care initiative, several existing buildings are being replaced by the new buildings “Haus Linde” and “Haus Substitut”. On behalf of HSI - Hamburger Senioren Immobilien GmbH, PORR Hochbau Region Nord is realizing the construction project as general contractor with all services from a single source. While “Haus Substitut” has already been handed over to the client, the final work on “Haus Linde” is progressing.

On a total gross floor area of approx. 19,795 m² and a BRI of approx. 68,453 m³, the two new buildings comprise 305 care rooms. 35 of the rooms are wheelchair-accessible and 25 rooms are for people in a vegetative state. The entire project is being realized by PORR from a single source, from planning and excavation to turnkey construction. The all-round carefree package guarantees a smooth construction process.

The “Haus Substitut” was handed over to the client in October 2024. The building shell of “Haus Linde” was completed in November 2024. The interior work is currently underway. The painting work and floor coverings were completed by the end of February. The final work will then be carried out on the first floor and basement.

Pioneering spirit right to the end

The construction team showed full commitment and pioneering spirit right to the end: The client wanted a special solution for the pergola in which the exhaust air runs inside the beams. As there was no market solution for this, the building construction team, together with PDE and subcontractors, developed a self-welded, coated steel cladding - a handcrafted solution that fulfilled the client's wishes.

A special construction was also required for the garden wall, as the location meant that heavy equipment could not be used. Here, 9 m long I-beams were rammed into the ground, with precast concrete elements placed in between to give the wall support.
