The former “coal gardens” border Leipzig's city center to the east. Due to its proximity to the city center, the district is now very popular as a place to live, especially among many students and young professionals. Thanks to cozy cafés, restaurants and atmospheric beer gardens, the district is developing into Leipzig's new trend district.
PORR Hochbau Region Ost is building a new residential complex at Kohlgartenstraße 63 and Bergstraße 2a and 2b to meet the demand for living space. A building comprising 28 two- to four-room apartments and 84 apartments for rent will be erected on a plot of 2,830 m². The building itself will have a living space of 5,752 m². The project aims to create modern and versatile rental apartments in a central district of Leipzig.
The architecture of the “Neue Kohlgärten” is based on the historical architectural style of the Gründerzeit, which once characterized the district. Elements such as balconies, bay windows and color concepts have been adapted to modern living requirements. The residential buildings at Bergstrasse 2A and 2B offer generous living space and blend harmoniously into the overall appearance of the district. An adjoining apartment building on Kohlgartenstrasse meets the growing demand for smaller apartments.
Continuing the successful partnership
The “Neue Kohlgärten” are not the first project that PORR has implemented for the client PROPOS Projektentwicklung GmbH. The PORR team is also realizing the Cospuden residential quarter near Leipzig and has impressed during the construction phase with its swift, high-quality construction work and partnership-based cooperation with the client - which is now being continued on the “Neue Kohlgärten”.
